Rules (Dojang Rules)
As with all academic
institutions, the Phoenix Academy has a set of rules to help keep things
organized and to help guide the student to better understand how to act
both in and out of the academy (Dojang).
1. The academy is to be regarded as a place of learning. When you enter
the academy, you must have the proper attitude and attire. It is imperative
to have peace of mind when beginning class. This will help you improve
your concentration and help you remember more.
2. When you enter the academy, you must show the proper salutations to
instructors and other black belts.
3. Tae Soo Do students are asked to reply with “Yes Sir/Ma’am” or “No
Sir/Ma’am” when addressing (TSD or HRD) black-belts.
4. Upon entering & leaving the training area, the student will show the
proper salutations to their country and the training hall.
5. At anytime it is necessary to adjust your uniform while in the training
area, the student must face away from the front of the mirror area on their
right knee and quickly adjust their uniform. (Dobok).
6. During weapons training if the student drops a weapon, He or She must do
the appropriate amount of push-ups off the mat area.
7. Before entering the training area, all students must take care of
“personal hygiene”. The instructor must not be interrupted to use the
restroom or to get a drink during class. Long finger and toe nails are a
danger to you, other students, and the instructors. Please keep them
trimmed.
8. Students are not to wear any loose jewelry such as necklaces watches or
rings during training.
9. No drinks or gum chewing or hats are to be worn in the training area.
10. No sparring without the supervision of one of the instructors.
11. Once you have entered the training hall, you should not have to
leave except in the case of an emergency.
12. Keep the training area and academy clean and neat at all times. A
dirty un kept academy is offensive to students as well as visitors.
13. If you have any questions during class, please raise your hand and wait
until the instructor acknowledges you.
14. If you are tardy, you must show the proper respect to the class and
your instructor by showing the correct (late entrance salutation) and wait
for the the instructor to acknowledge you.
15. Never do anything to dishonor your name, your family, your Academy, and
your instructors.
